Run multiple MetaTrader terminals
Organise separate trading accounts on one computer or VPS and verify the correct account connections.
To run several trading accounts at the same time on one computer or VPS, use a separate MetaTrader terminal for each account. One terminal has one active account login; switching its login is different from running both accounts simultaneously.
Plan the setup
Section titled “Plan the setup”Write down the accounts you want active at the same time, then decide which License ID each should use.
The current subscription connection allowances are Core: 1 account, Plus: up to 3, and Pro: up to 5. Installing more terminals does not increase that allowance. Legacy Advanced and Professional subscriptions retain their 3-account and 10-account allowances. Compare plans and account limits.
| Example account | Terminal | Licence choice |
|---|---|---|
| Personal demo account | Terminal A | Shared ID if it should receive the same alerts as another account. |
| Evaluation demo account | Terminal B | Separate ID if it should receive different alerts. |
| Another demo account | Terminal C | Choose according to its intended alerts. |
These are example labels. Use the account information shown by your own broker and Portal.
- Computer or VPS
Keeps each intended terminal running.
Separate destinations
- Terminal A
Account A with its PineConnector EA connection.
- Terminal B
Account B with its PineConnector EA connection.
Two concurrent accounts use two instances, even when the terminals are on the same machine.
Install and identify each terminal
Section titled “Install and identify each terminal”- Obtain MetaTrader from the broker for the account you want to connect.
- Install a separate terminal for that account. Where the installer offers a destination folder, use a distinct folder for each installation rather than replacing an existing one.
- Give its shortcut a recognisable name, such as the broker and “Demo A”.
- Open the terminal and sign in to the intended trading account.
- Install and connect the PineConnector EA using the MetaTrader 5 setup guide.
- Repeat for each account, checking the account login inside each terminal as you go.
Installer options can differ between brokers. The published walkthrough demonstrates the separate-terminal approach:
Multiple MetaTrader terminals on one computer
Assign the right License IDs
Section titled “Assign the right License IDs”Use the same ID on accounts that should receive the same alerts. Use separate IDs when their instructions should be independent.
See Account and licence questions for allocation and Multi-Instance Signals for shared-ID behaviour.
Verify every terminal
Section titled “Verify every terminal”Open Portal Connections and compare it with each terminal:
- Account: broker and account login match the intended destination.
- License ID: the account appears under the intended ID.
- Status: the connection is present and active.
- EA settings: symbol handling, sizing and trading behaviour are suitable for that account.
Then send a demo test alert. Check the result in every intended destination and confirm no other account received an unintended order.
Keep the setup running
Section titled “Keep the setup running”Each terminal and its PineConnector EA must remain running for its connection. On your own device or VPS, include every terminal in your checks after a restart; seeing one terminal running does not establish that the others restarted too.
Use connection-loss notifications where available. If one account stops receiving signals, inspect that terminal and its individual Signal Log result before changing the whole group.
For device hosting considerations, see VPS setup. PineConnector Edge has its own hosted setup flow; these Windows-terminal installation steps are for self-hosted accounts.
